This course
will review in detail some of the cases that have been published
in CLSA’s Eyewitness journal. The cases are presented in the
S.O.A.P. format. Emphasis will be given to the discussion of the
various management options offered by each unique case presented.
Upon completion of this course, the participant should be able to:
define S.O.A.P and it’s use; list the contact lens options
considered for each case presented; develop proper decision making
skills.

10:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. Contact Lens Related Pathology -
The slit lamp may be the most important tool in the practice.
Proper use of the various techniques is essential to fully utilize
its use in the clinical setting. This course will also review the
various contact lens complications that can occur as a result of
contact lens wear. The probable causes and the possible cures for
each complication will be discussed. Upon completion of this
course, the participant should be able to: list three
complications that can occur with continuous wear; explain the
difference in hypersensitivity and toxicity; list three causes of
corneal vascularization.

1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Digital Dispensing 101 -
This course will familiarize participants the
technical aspects of what Free Form is, and what Free Form isn’t.
It will review Free Form design and surfacing techniques, as well
as the benefits to the wearer over conventionally surfaced lenses.
How to present these benefits to the patient will be discussed,
including those with managed vision care plans. Retail pricing
strategies (relative to conventional PALs) will be reviewed along
with easy ways of implementing Free Form into your practice.

2:00 p.m. -3:00 p.m. Surviving Today's Economy -
Derived from a Harvard business study, this presentation discusses
ways overcoming the economic challenges in today’s private
practices by building solid relationships. We will review the
foundation for a successful exchange of information. This exchange
should provide a benefit to both parties, and each party must have
confidence in the promise of the “something of value” held by the
other. To build trust, the parties must both meet expectations. We
will also discuss relationship marketing by teaching ways that
build long-term mutually beneficial arrangements in which both the
buyer and the seller focus on value enhancement through the
creation of more satisfying exchanges.

4:15 p.m. The Luxury Eyewear Market: How To Stand Out From The
Crowd
and Increase Sales -
The purpose of this class is to expose people to the
benefits of luxury eyewear as well as the importance of giving
consumers a special experience when they are making eyewear
purchases. It is designed to show ECP’s that providing unique
luxury product along with a unique value added experience and
service will help practices stand out from the crowd and increase
sales in the process. It is designed to show ECP’s that “optical”
need to be an important part of the overall strategy and not an
afterthought to the exam functions of an office. Upon completion
of this course, the participant should be able to: understand the
need for luxury eyewear as part of an overall product assortment;
understand how to buy luxury eyewear for a practice/retail store;
understand how to sell luxury eyewear in a retail environment;
understand how to market luxury eyewear and develop a strategy to
create an overall “experience” for the patient/consumer.
